Hardware

The majority of the equipment needed for our point-of-sale system can be purchased from our website at shop.firstchoicepos.com

To order hardware, browse our items at shop.firstchoicepos.com, to place your order.

The Credit Card Swiper – Magtek, encrypted by First Choice POS, and the Chip Device – PAX machine or Castle MP200 programmed by First Choice POS, must be purchased from us.

Most equipment will include a one-year warranty, while Dell computers often come with a three-year warranty.

Minimum PC Requirements

  • Windows 10 and greater

  • Intel i3 Gen7 processor and greater

  • Memory (RAM):

8 GB RAM or greater, If the computer is used for checkout purposes only.

16 GB RAM or greater is recommended if the computer is used for other tasks in addition to checkout.

  • 256 GB Storage and greater, SSD recommended.
    The high storage is recommended for smooth operating; the software itself doesn’t require all that memory.

  • Anti-Virus such as Windows Defender.

  • WiFi Capability Is important to have on your computer as a backup option when a cable connection is unavailable.

  • Internet connectivity; using an Ethernet cable.

  • The system is not compatible with PCs that use ARM processors.

Running additional software or storing files on the device used for the FirstChoice POS can significantly impact its overall performance. To optimize your system, it is highly recommended to run only the POS programs. If you need to use the PC for other tasks, consider upgrading components such as RAM and drive capacity.

System URLs

All URLs used within our system must be whitelisted prior to the installation of the POS to ensure optimal functionality. Click here for a comprehensive list of all URLs associated with our system. It is imperative that your DNS or filtering provider whitelists these URLs. Furthermore, confirm with your provider that all of our subdomains are unblocked (e.g., my.firstchoicepos.net).

Offline

As a hybrid cloud + local system, First Choice POS is designed to continue running even if the internet fails.

First Choice does not offer general IT support for your computers and equipment. Even the merchandise purchased from us is only supported during the initial setup. Your business must have its own general IT support provider for ongoing assistance.

Please be advised that this service is separate from the support we provide for the Point-of-Sale software.
